It is important to ensure the materials are suitable for disposal under local regulations, and hazardous waste such as asbestos or chemicals typically cannot be collected by a grab lorry.

  • The CGB Group grab lorries are designed for heavier loads and they may handle up to 16 tonnes.

Always check with the grab lorry service provider for exact weight capacities and any restrictions based on your location or the type of waste being removed.

  • Yes, a grab lorry can deliver aggregates. Grab lorries are specifically designed to transport and deliver bulk materials such as sand, gravel, soil, and other aggregates. The vehicle is equipped with a hydraulic arm and grab bucket, which allows it to load and unload materials efficiently without the need for additional machinery on site. This makes grab lorries ideal for delivering aggregates to construction sites, gardens especially for landscaping.

  • A grab hire service can supply a wide range of materials suitable for construction, landscaping, and general waste removal projects. Common materials available through grab hire include:

    • Topsoil: Ideal for gardening, landscaping, and ground restoration.

    • Aggregates: Such as crushed stone, gravel, sand, and ballast for construction and drainage.

    • Hardcore: Used as a foundation material in building and road works.

    • Builders’ waste: Including bricks, concrete, rubble, and other construction debris.

    • Decorative stone, like ragstone chipping’s.

    Please call to check availability.

  • Standard grab lorries have a body length of 8 metres (approximately 26 feet). The width is just under 2.5 metres (about 8 feet), which is standard for road vehicles in the UK.
The height can vary but is generally between 3.5 metres (12 feet), allowing for both road clearance and the mechanical arm.

In terms of payload, grab lorries often have a capacity up to 20 cubic metres. The vehicle's grab arm enables it to collect and move large volumes of waste or materials quickly, making it ideal for construction and landscaping projects.

  • A grab lorry typically has a reach of around 5 to 6 metres. This reach is determined by the length of the articulated grab arm used to pick up and move materials. Some specialised models may have longer reach capabilities, extending up to 8 metres, but the most common grab lorries operate within the 5–6 metre range to effectively access construction sites, gardens, or waste areas without manoeuvring the vehicle too much.
